More on the Home Front

By Donna | April 25, 2008

Well now we are painting the house. have about 1/4 of one side left. Whew windows are a pain to paint around. Lots of work – I think house painters deserve what ever they charge; I am buying paint by the one gallons – don’t ask why. Today the guys come to fix the fascia boards – who even knew about them??? then we paint the new and old fascia boards, then the rest of the trim – not too much. Then new gutters. Hooray. And now I am looking at new front doors. Costs almost as much to install them as to buy them. But I saw a really nice one with a leaded glass at the top. I think I will get that one.

Time to take my dog for a walk – the guys haven’t shown up yet and it is 8:30. guess if I had gone when I got up at 7 I would be done already!!

We were supposed to get snow or rain today – hooray none materialized.

And I need kudos from Todd cause it took much frustration on his part and mine to get me to this page!! Who new I had to go to the Dashboard page!!!! Hopefully I can remember for next time.

Last night a friend gave us 2 tickets to see “Riders in the Sky”. Four older guys who have been together singing for 30 years – they sang the old cowboy songs – nice, like Tumbling tumbleweed, Springtime in the Rockies, hmm I already forgot the rest. But they had some funny routines – great singets. It was at Thompson Valley HS and the place was packed – including the balcony!!! Good time. Lots on evenings we just sit and watch TV 0r play Cribbage.

If you look on line at the Loveland Reporter Herald for April 16 you can read about the Zumba class – I go to that 3 times a week. You absolutely must try it – a great cardio aerobic workout. And most important it is so much FUN! We have a great instuctor = is is for all ages!!!

well I am exhausted from trying to get to this page, and now I have written all I can think of.

To Scott and family – Happy Birthday to the kids.

Bye now – I better have some comments after all this work. HA HA

Earthquake!

By scampbel13 | April 18, 2008

Felt our first earthquake today.  Around 4:36 am Central time, Shannon, Kelly, Steph and I all woke up when the house started shaking…  Being in the midwest, the first thing we thought was…  Tornado!!!  But there was no wind sound, only shaking.  That’s when it occurred to us that we were experiencing our first earthquake.  It was a little scary, but luckily, it was located 120 miles east of St. Louis, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.  However, it was a 5.4 on the Richter scale, so we felt it.  Everything shook for about 20 seconds.  Somehow, Steph knew it was an earthquake right away and ran to her doorway (is that the right thing to do?).  Kelly ran to our room scared and Robbie slept through it…  He never felt a thing.  Luckily, there was no damage, only frightened people…  Hope you are all well!  Scott

Home work!

By Donna | April 8, 2008

Got the patio cover totally off – the beams the support posts = all of it! Not to bad a job actually. Now I need to get the gutters off, the fascia replaced where it is rotten then paint that, THEN new gutters. what a chore. Need to paint the whole house too. I did order my blinds for the living room finally. Should have them in 2 weeks. Hooray. We had snow here yesterday. Came down and quickly turned to mush.

Today all gone. Still trying to learn to knit – doing fine, except yesterday the yarn ball came out in 3 “hunks” that now need to be unraveled. Such a job. I am reading GREAT book – The Other Boleyn Girl”. Really good – course I like the Historical Fiction genre. I wonder in the movie is as good as the book?!! Well, off to do some actual work here. Boring stuff – maybe I’ll make some cookies. Everyone have a good day.

How to…

By Todd | March 23, 2008

So how do you write an entry, if you don’t know? Other than guessing 🙂

You can go look at the WordPress directions.. or you can watch my little movie.

1) You’re going to have to log on.
2) Go to the Write portion in WordPress
3) Put in your title, choose a category, make your entry
4) You can save a draft, or publish it.

that’s really it… it’s new, it’s different..if you’ve not done it before. I really don’t think anyone could totally hose up the site (well, other than me).

The Patio update!

By Donna | March 21, 2008

Hi everyone. For those of you who have visited me here in Loveland, yesterday I took off the corrugated vinyl roof over the patio. WHEW-It looks very nice now, and my kitchen looks much brighter.

Is everyone ready for Easter? Easter baskets all filled with goodies? Have a Happy Easter.

I am still exercising every day – and now after our Thurs afternoon class 4 or 5 or us play dominoes – Mexican Train – nothing like we did when we were kids! Thanks to Brenda for showing us that game!!

I found another little rescue dog = a schnoodle, white, = don’t be alarmed, I am just thinking. Mr. Buddy – the new dog – still has some serious manners to learn. Sorta like Pearl, huh Mary? I guess some dog personalities are just that way – nice to their “peeps” but wary of other people.

And kudos to Todd for the lovely login button – NICE!!! Thanks. Todd, get Sandra communicating on here too!!

Bye

Look to your Right..logon

By Todd | March 21, 2008

I added a direct login link on the right side…

Hopefully that will make things easier as you don’t have to scroll down to find the logon links.

Donna and Mary should be writing something…I don’t know why they aren’t.  They are the Verschoors’ this site was created for…

Cars Cars..oh wait, it’s a Van!

By Todd | March 9, 2008

Was going to buy another 91 accord today, $500… needed interior work, glass, and who knows what else. The person selling it had to go out of state, and we were like 1/2 mile from his house already. So….no new Accord to work on.

I bought RoadMaster Active Suspension kits for the Van I have, and one for my Dodge truck…. the one for the van will work, but I haven’t gotten motivated to attempt loosening those 20 year old bolts yet. I put half of one onto my truck….and the rear shackle is wrong …. so I took that back off, nice way to spend 1.5 hours. I then went to town on the Van’s heater core as it needs replacing. It’s a F350 Club Wagon Van that I got from PSK’s parents for free! Needs minor things….heater core, shocks, a turn signal switch, wiper blades, a tune up…

Heater cores in a van are not fun to replace. I kept removing bolts and kept finding more. The Haynes manual I have says there’s only 6 bolts. I swear I took out 30…

Ohwell…that was my Saturday. Lost $10 playing poker..but had good chili and hot dogs and lots of water.

Time to pester MS, DM, and SR to do some writing…they all have accounts.
